Veiling of Statues & Crosses

You may have noticed that crosses and images / statues in our parish churches have been veiled since last Sunday. Crosses and images may be veiled on the Fifth Sunday of Lent. Crosses are unveiled following the Good Friday Liturgy, while images are unveiled before the beginning of the Easter Vigil.

So why…?

The traditional annual collection for the Holy land will be taken up at the liturgy on Good Friday. Parish envelope boxes contain an envelope for this purpose.

A group pf parishioners / volunteers are getting together this Saturday (April 12th) at 8.30am to clean our church for Easter. There will be tea and refreshments afterwards.

Liturgy of Reconciliation

This Sunday, April 13th, at 7pm, I’ll lead a special Liturgy of Reconciliation with an Act of Perfect Contrition for those unable to come to Confession in these days. This Liturgy will be broadcast on our usual parish livestream.
The church will not be open for this liturgy as this is specifically for those who can’t get to Confession –

As the Parable of the Prodigal Son reminds us, God is always ready to run to us, to embrace us, to bring us back in right relationship with Him, if only we turn towards Him.

Maybe, as we approach the great celebration of Easter, you will turn towards God in Confession in Holy Week?
